Implemented with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality’s vision of a sustainable environment and zero-waste cities, Turkey’s first and Europe’s largest “Waste Incineration and Energy Production Facility” was awarded. “Emirates Energy Award” organized biennially by the Dubai Supreme Energy Council (DSCE), were presented to their winners at a ceremony held at the Dubai World Trade Centre on October 1st. Our project, which we supported as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Finance Directorate with an external financing of EUR 425.7 million, was one of the 33 projects that won awards in the ceremony. There were projects from 250 institutions representing 24 countries in 10 categories highlighting best practices and pioneering work in energy efficiency, alternative energy, sustainability and environmental protection. The Directorate of Waste Management received the award we won in the “Major Energy Projects” category on behalf of our Municipality.
