Metro İstanbul, one of the companies of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, cooperated with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Istanbul Planning Agency (IPA) on ”Gender Equality in the Transportation Sector”

It is aimed to ensure gender balance in the workforce by increasing female employment in the transportation sector, where female representation is low, within the scope of the protocol signed with the EBRD, which offers development-oriented financing.

The ceremony, in which our director PhD. Rezzan Neslihan VURAL attended as a speaker, were discussed the social impact of public transportation investments and gender equality approaches in the transportation sector.

With the project, Metro İstanbul, IPA and EBRD started a cooperation that will last for 18 months in the scope of examination, capacity building and evaluation on raising awareness of gender equality, reducing inequalities and overcoming prejudices. In this process, studies will be carried out that will increase the mobility of women, increase the number of female employees in Metro Istanbul and contribute to the economic development of women.
